Mother & Daughter.
The heart of this mother and this daughter.
Who could have made a daughter for the mother, and the mother for the daughter?
A true story of great love, victories, beauty, and the fight against a terrible illness.
Whose daughter is it?
(Biography)
Un poquito de mAMA
Maria Pia
She is the daughter of Grandpa Armando and Grandma Rina...
Some time ago, in the countryside of a small village in Abruzzo, Grandpa Armando and Grandma Rina, after losing two young children, gave birth to a special little one to overcome their immense pain.
That is how my beautiful mom was born.
Her life rebels and hits her hard in the head, the heart, and the throat. It is no coincidence.
Tested and challenged time and time again, she overcomes every obstacle with kindness, faith, strength, and courage.
Death repeatedly tries to take her away with him to unknown worlds. With his black cloak, he tries to carry her away, but I stretch out a thin yet resilient rope that goes straight from my heart to hers.
She grabs it and fights without anger, as if nothing has happened.
She wants to hug me and this wonderful life once again.
She is the one who lives with a damned yet blessed illness, the hardest one to accept.
It is the one that no one can see, but it is there, and inside it makes so much noise that it echoes on the outside too.
It plays hide-and-seek, never lets itself be caught, and never leaves. It takes your hand forever and keeps you company, and all that remains is learning to live with it.
You know, it chooses special people — those who never give up. And we will not give up either. We will fight alongside her at all costs, even when it consumes all her strength and leaves you lying in bed, knocked out...
One day I will tell you her story better!

My mother’s name is
MAMA Maria Pia, or MAMA Pia,
Auntie Pia or Piotta for the family, or simply Maria Pia.
Her name already speaks for itself.
She is a one-of-a-kind creature...
Favorite singers:
Eros Ramazzotti and Gianni Morandi.
Favorite ice cream flavors:
Hazelnut and stracciatella.
Favorite dish:
Red pizza.
Beloved channel: Rai 1.
She hardly ever misses an episode of the pre-dinner programs.
Unlike me, she is a creature of habit and has her own daily routine.
Changes make her anxious.
She is thin, but she is a big eater.
Grandma almost had to lock the refrigerator and hide sweets under the bed.
She doesn’t like drinking water; she prefers Coca-Cola.
She doesn’t drink wine or coffee, but rather barley coffee for breakfast and herbal teas for every occasion.
She doesn’t eat salads, but she loves cheese.
Naturally too kind and very affectionate.
She loves the rosary, the sea, summer hats like an American in Paris, sunglasses, red lipstick, colorful clothes, her perfume, friends, family, and children.
She never goes out without her watch or makeup.
When she was young, she was an artist.
She created copper artworks, painted, knitted, ironed, loved cooking, and loved studying.
She was shy, reserved, and very polite, but also an ironic and stubborn companion.
Before, she never spoke; now she talks in bursts. I have to stop her — it’s the illness.
It had reduced her to a vegetable in bed, but now she has come back to life.
She loves going out and celebrating, but then she has to return home.
She tried traveling in a converted camper van and has wanted to go away ever since.
The illness has not made her unpleasant; it has made her even more special.
She is a force of nature, she never gives up, and she has a huge heart — the biggest there is.
